1. Pre-iconography : concern for formal elements. (does not require prior knowledge. naturalistic male nude form)
2. Iconographical analysis: Learning the themes and ideas (Greek gods? Soilders?)
3. Iconological analysis: how art work are interpretations of the ideas of their times, expression of their culture.)
